  • 2 tablespoons dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded swiss cheese
  • 16 ounces cooked chicken
  • 16 ounces chopped ham
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. Cook 16 ounces of penne pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and transfer to the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt 1/4 cup of butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and flour, sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Gradually whisk in chicken broth and heavy cream until smooth. Stir in mustard, brown sugar, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in shredded Swiss cheese until melted.
  6. Evenly sprinkle cooked chicken over the pasta, then add chopped ham on top.
  7. Pour the cheese sauce over the chicken and ham, ensuring even distribution.
  8. In a small bowl, mix panko bread crumbs, melted butter, and garlic powder. Sprinkle over the casserole.
  9. Bake uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the topping is browned and the casserole is bubbly.
